I would like to send the following command to the ftp server:

    quote rcmd CLRPFM FILE(QS36F/AFFEDI) MBR(SHELL)

Which will enable us to run a custom application and do some cleanup. I receive the following error message:

The FTP server did not accept a FTP command for an unexpected reason

The log file registers as follows:

    < 220-QTCP at AFUSA1.
< 220 Connection will close if idle more than 5 minutes.
    > USER XXXX
    < 331 Enter password.
    > PASS xxxx
    < 230 XXXX logged on.
    > PWD
    < 257 “#CBRUN” is current library.
    > CWD QS36F
    < 250 “QS36F” is current library.
    > PWD
    < 257 “QS36F” is current library.
    > quote rcmd CLRPFM FILE(QS36F/AFFEDI) MBR(SHELL)
< 500 Subcommand QUOT not valid.

is the SendCommand method using a maximum of 4 characters? is there a way to get around this issue?

I have tested the command in windows command prompt and unix: it works great there. Any thoughts?

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide!

What you want to send is “rcmd CLRPFM FILE(QS36F/AFFEDI) MBR(SHELL)”.

“quote” is the textual command for the Windows command-prompt ftp application for sending a custom command. Thus, when using this application, typing “quote rcmd CLRPFM FILE(QS36F/AFFEDI) MBR(SHELL)” actually sends “rcmd CLRPFM FILE(QS36F/AFFEDI) MBR(SHELL)”.
