    Hi,

I’ve been reading the Xceed Compression Library (last) trying to found how can we get the exact size of a self-extract file.

Is there a way to know it?
Which is the formula or factor to find it?

I think it’s possible, because when the self-extract file is created (we already know the size of the Zip file) something adds-on before it’s created.

    Thank you

    Hello,

You can use the PreviewFiles method to get the compressed zip of the zip file. To determine that size of a self-extracting zip file, you can use the same method but you will need to add the size of either the 16bit or the 32 bit SFX modules. You can find the these modules, in the Program Files/Xceed Components/Xceed Zip Compression Library/Sfx folder.

There is also some extra data representing the different dialog messages, button captions and SFX options. For the default SFX properties, this is roughly 1k.
