    Hi,

OK. I agree that to be able to Zip SQL Server database files the propertie of the control must be set to true. That’s the way it is.

And the database file can’t be compressed.

Once again (because we don’t have the experience in working with SQL),

Using basic logic, SQL somehow tells the OS (by moving some direction, status on the NTFS table, some flag some where) to not “touch the file”.

If so, there must be a way to “remove” that situation.
Of course might to be with xceed zip compression but as a programmer (and you will agree with me) “there’s nothing impossible”

Best regards, and of course CONGRATULATIONS FOR THIS FORUM!!
How do you say “It’s cool”

    Regards,

    Hello Jorge.

It is possible for a process running with the proper system rights (SE_BACKUP_NAME and SE_RESTORE_NAME) to open a file using the FILE_FLAG_BACKUP_SEMANTICS attribute (via the CreateFile API).

However, Xceed Zip does not currently support this. I have taken good note of your needs, but I cannot tell you if such a feature could make it in the product soon or later.
