I am attempting to hide a LayoutAnchorable in my app. When the layout is loaded from an xml file (using XmlLayoutSerializer) then the Hide() method has no effect. Other wise (no file is found) the layout is read in MainWindow.xml where my LayoutAnchorable has x:Name property. In this case the Hide() method works. How can I get to the LayoutAnchorable instance that is loaded through the layout xml file?

    Hi Doug,

When loading from an xml file, hiding the LayoutAnchorable (named x:Name) will  hide a layoutAnhorable that is defined in MainWindow.xaml, not the one loaded.  So you will see no effect.

You need to find it from LayoutRoot…looking for its children, until finding the one you want. If that doesn’t work, you need to send me a simple sample project which demonstrates the issue so that I could have a closer look.
