    Hi there. I would like to generate a .tar.xz file to transfer to a linux environment. I can easily generate .tar.gz, but when I try to create .tar.xz I run into problems.

    I’ve been trying like this:

     static private void CompressFile(AbstractFile fileIn, DiskFile fileOut)

                ZipArchive zip = new ZipArchive(fileOut);
                zip.DefaultCompressionMethod = Xceed.Compression.CompressionMethod.LZMA;
                zip.DefaultCompressionLevel = Xceed.Compression.CompressionLevel.Highest;
                fileIn.CopyTo(zip, true);

    When I try to decompress on the linux side, I always get an error:

    xz: file.tar.xz: File format not recognized

    Any suggestions?

    Hi Stephen,

    XZ is a data compression file format that uses the LZMA2 compression algorithm.

    Reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xz

    At this time we only have LZMA1 support, and as such cannot support the XZ file format. There are currently no plans to implement LZMA2 or the XZ format, however, we will add it to our list of possible projects. We will post an update in this forum thread if/when it is implemented.
