Xceed.Ftp.FtpIOException: An error occurred while starting to receive replies from the command socket. —> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.EndConnect(IAsyncResult asyncResult) at Xceed.Utils.Security.Ssl.SecureSocket.EndConnect(IAsyncResult asyncResult) at Xceed.Ftp.Engine.FtpCommandChannel.ConnectCompleted(IAsyncResult asyncResult) — End of inner exception stack trace — at Xceed.Ftp.Engine.ConnectFtpCommand.EndExecute(IAsyncResult asyncResult) at Xceed.Ftp.FtpClient.Connect(String hostName, Int32 port)

Can you provide more details of what you are doing exactly, and a log of the communication with the server?
You can set the TraceWriter property to obtain the log.
FtpClient.TraceWriter = new StreamWriter( @”D:\ftp.log”, true );

I have the same issue, and I have setup the Trace.
This is what I try to do:
Dim ftpClient As New FtpClient
ftpClient.TraceWriter = New StreamWriter(“XceedFTP.LOG”)
ftpClient.UseRemoteAddress = True
ftpClient.PassiveTransfer = True
ftpClient.SendFile(strAPPPLRuntimeDir & “\app.json”)
And here is the XceedFTP log:
Connected to 175.X.X.X:X on 2/08/2013 @ 3:13:18 PM
< 220 Microsoft FTP Service
> USER X
< 331 Password required
> PASS *****
< 230 User logged in.
> CWD /A2_old
< 250 CWD command successful.
> TYPE I
< 200 Type set to I.
< 227 Entering Passive Mode (10,X,X,X,X,224).
> STOR app.json
< 150 Opening BINARY mode data connection.
As you can see the connection and change of folder is successful.
The SendFile function throws an exception. The exception description is the same as what is defined in the original post.
