    I’m testing your component and it is faster than what we were using, however… The zip files we create and stream across the web are fine for WinZip, StuffIt, and Windows Compressed Folders but WinRar is reporting a problem, with each file generating a Unknown method error.

     The header for each file looks like this:

    ZipItemLocalHeader zipItemLocalHeader1 = new ZipItemLocalHeader(newFileName == string.Empty ? localFilename : newFileName
           , CompressionMethod., CompressionLevel.Normal);
    zipWriter1.WriteItemLocalHeader(zipItemLocalHeader1);

     Any thoughts?

    This is due to the fact that WinRAR does not support an archive in which local headers don’t define the compressed and uncompressed size.  With Real-Time zip, since the archive is built through streaming, these size cannot be known when first building the archive.  This information is appended at the end of the compressed data, in what is called a data descriptor, which again is not supported by WinRAR.

    Our library respects the Zip Standard you can find here : http://www.pkware.com/documents/casestudies/APPNOTE.TXT

    In a communication with WinRAR support, they mentioned they could consider implement support for these type of archives in the future, if enough WinRAR users request it.

    Is there a list, anywhere, that states what versions of known compression utilities will work with Real Time Zipped files? For instance, I know WinZip 10 or above, but how about PKZip and StuffIt?

     Thanks

    Unfortunately, we do not have such a list.
