    The grid I’m using is for data entry and I want the user to be able to navigate to a cell that has a combobox, type the first letter of the item in the combobox and it automatically gets selected without having to go in to edit mode with special buttons. Just move to the cell, it automatically goes to edit mode when I press a key and selects the value that matches the key I pressed.

    Try changing the DropDownStyle-property of the editor to ComboBoxStyle.DropDown.

    Yeah, I tried that but the grid still doesn’t respond to a keydown button press to go into edit mode like the default text control editor does.

    Try this:

    gridControl.SingleClickEdit = true;
