I’m working on an app that uses Linq object generated by SqlMetal. When
there is a parent->child relationship in the database, an EntitySet is
created to store the child objects. Each child is of the same type.

Can I bind an EntitySet to DataGrid?

Thanks!

Hi Brian,

There should be no problems binding an EntitySet to the DataGridControl.

However, we do not support Hierarchical Master/Detail scenarios at the moment (with detail rows from relations directly in the master grid). So you would need to bind a second DataGridControl to the the EntitySet from the Parent when this parent is “Current” ( DataGridControl.CurrentItem).

Also, I’ve read from a MSDN forum post that there is a lack of change notification from the EntitySet class, therefore you should not expect a DataGridControl, bound to an EntitySet, to refresh live as the relation’s content changes.

Marc,

The refresh isn’t an issue for me. I can manually do this with code. The Master/Detail for displaying Parent/Child information would be great. Maybe we’ll see this in version 2?

I just purchased a 4-user license and am looking forward to integrating the DataGrid into our apps!
